LOCKDOWN WEDDING // Shona & Aidan

Shona and Aidan’s wedding will always be one of my most memorable weddings, taking place in the middle of lockdown with tight restrictions in force. Initially they had booked the prestigious Lough Eske Castle and had already postponed their first date. Come March 2021 we were in another lockdown and the couple decided they didn’t want to hold off any longer. I’m sure when they first made all their plans they never imagined their day would be without a reception, only family and bridal party present for the service or cutting their cake in the garage! But from all these restrictions it made it possible for us to visit locations part of their unique story and they never once stopped smiling.

Shona and Aidan first met as babies, childminded by Aidan’s aunt Una. Their journey continued into primary school in Eskra where they even played the roles of Mary and Joseph in a nativity scene. During the service Fr McGinley talked of how they first walked down the aisle together for their Holy Communion! When they reached secondary school their paths took different turns until 15 years later when they bumped into each other during a night out in Bogan’s Bar, Omagh. The rest is history is a very apt saying for their wedding, their photographs have become an important part of our times documenting how we navigated through the pandemic and the measures couples took to say, “I do!”
